Strong Fishermen!

Fishermen survive weeks on ice

Kiev - Two Ukrainian fishermen were alive after nearly two weeks adrift on an ice patch at sea, according to a Tuesday Interfax news agency report.

The pair had been ice fishing in the Azov sea near the port city Berdiansk on February 22 when their ice patch detached itself from the shore.

A trawler found the two anglers on Monday, drifting 70km away from land.

The fishermen were in severe condition and suffering from exposure, frostbite, and hyperthermia.

They were receiving treatment in a local hospital and were expected to survive, the report said. - dpa
